Fifteen members of our Secondary Student Council took part in the second Student Leadership Development Day at Maani Hotel, an initiative designed to strengthen students’ leadership abilities and develop essential personal and interpersonal skills. The programme featured a range of engaging, interactive and collaborative activities focusing on emotional intelligence, teamwork, effective communication and leadership, while also encouraging self-confidence, decision-making and a strong sense of responsibility.
The day also featured an inspiring talk by TSS alumnus, Mr Varun Khimji, who shared his personal leadership journey, reflecting on the key milestones, experiences and challenges that have shaped his professional development. He offered valuable insights and practical advice on the importance of perseverance, continuous self-development, making the most of opportunities and building the confidence needed to become an effective and responsible leader.
Throughout the programme, students had the opportunity to engage with one another, exchange ideas and learn through practical experiences and group discussions. These activities encouraged collaboration, strengthened their sense of belonging and helped them recognise their individual strengths while developing the skills needed to work effectively as part of a team.
The experience provided a valuable platform for students to broaden their perspectives, build meaningful connections and gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be a leader. It also encouraged them to think about how they can translate their skills and knowledge into meaningful action within their school community and beyond.
This initiative reflects The Sultan’s School’s continued commitment to nurturing confident, responsible and forward-thinking young individuals who are equipped with the skills and values needed to embrace future challenges, take initiative and make a positive and lasting difference in the communities around them.
