IGCSE Biology students took part in a valuable hands-on learning experience through the dissection of a mammalian heart. The activity provided students with an opportunity to apply the theoretical concepts they had learned in the classroom and gain a closer understanding of the structure and function of the heart.

During the practical session, students examined the heart’s chambers, valves, and major blood vessels. This helped them understand how the heart functions as a vital pump within the circulatory system and explore the relationship between the structure of its different components and their specific functions.

The practical experience also helped develop students’ skills in careful observation and scientific analysis. It encouraged them to ask questions, engage in scientific discussions, share their observations, and connect theoretical knowledge with practical application in a clear and meaningful way.

Activities such as this reflect The Sultan’s School’s commitment to providing diverse and engaging learning experiences that combine academic knowledge with practical learning. Such opportunities help nurture students’ scientific curiosity, develop critical thinking and investigative skills, and provide them with a deeper understanding of science and its applications in the real world.

Through these practical experiences, Biology students continue to develop their scientific knowledge and skills within an engaging learning environment that encourages exploration, curiosity, and lifelong learning. These experiences also help provide a strong foundation for students who wish to pursue further studies and future careers in scientific, medical, and related fields.
